Uber driver survives machete attack, car stolen at Barekese

A 30-year-old Uber driver, Kwadwo Antwi, narrowly escaped death after a passenger allegedly attacked him with a machete and fled with his vehicle at Barekese in the Atwima Nwabiagya North District of the Ashanti Region.
Antwi reportedly picked up the passenger from Abrepo Junction in Kumasi to Barekese. Upon arrival, the passenger turned on him, launching a violent assault with a cutlass.
The victim’s father, Master Alex, recounted the harrowing incident:
“Before my son was able to remove the seat belt and run for his life, the suspect blocked his hand and laps with the cutlass. After pushing him out, the attacker drove away in the car.”
The stolen vehicle is a Toyota Vitz with registration number AS 7104-22.
Antwi, who sustained injuries during the attack, is responding to treatment. Police say investigations are underway to track down the suspect.
