Kumasi Asante Kotoko were quick of the blocks with a well taken free kick curled beyond the wall and the goal keeper for the opener n the third minute to hand Asante Kotoko the all important first goal.

After the goal Kotoko created very little with the closest they came to goal been a rasping shot from Augustine Okrah hitting the bar and going wide after a nice dribble inside the Etoile du Sahel.

Emmanuel Gyamfi went down in the box with the whole stadium roaring for a penalty kick but the referee waved away penalty appeals.

Etoile threatened sporadically with their best chance been a straight shot at Kotoko goalie Felix Annan both sides cancelled each other out before the match went into the half time break.

Kotoko started the second half in similar fashion as the first half after Richard Arthur shot powerfully into the net after the Tunisians headed clear a corner kick only for Emmanuel Agyemang Badu to divert the ball into the path of Richard Arthur.

Etoile produced very little going forward in the second half with Kotoko's Abege weaving his way into the Etoile box with Yacouba free he chose to blaze wide.
