The Ghana Football Association says it expects to appoint a new head coach for the Ghana national football team within the next one to two weeks.

‎FA president Kurt Okraku confirmed the timeline following the dismissal of Otto Addo, signalling an urgent push to stabilise the team ahead of the 2026 World Cup.

“We will have a new coach in a week or two,” Okraku told 3Sports, underlining the association’s intent to move swiftly.

‎Addo was relieved of his duties after a run of poor results, including defeats to Austria and Germany during the recent international window. The decision was finalised after a late-night meeting in Stuttgart.

‎The GFA has since begun assessing both local and international candidates, with several high-profile names already linked to the role as the federation seeks a coach capable of delivering immediate impact.

‎Time, however, remains a major constraint. Ghana are scheduled to face Mexico and Wales in May, leaving the incoming coach with limited opportunity to evaluate the squad and implement tactical changes before the World Cup.

‎Drawn in Group L alongside Panama, Croatia and England, the Black Stars face a demanding challenge, making the upcoming appointment a crucial step in their preparations for the tournament.
