It has come to light that Nana Ama Dokua Asiamah-Adjei, NPP MP for Akuapem North, paid GHC4,000 to each delegate in order to win the Okaikwei North primary.

Nana Ama Dokua allegedly colluded with the police to let voters snap images and present them to her husband before receiving the cash, which was placed in sealed envelopes.

Some delegates from the Okaikwei North constituency namely Pat, Stella, Benedicta and Comfort made this information public.

They claimed that the police, other officials of the Electoral Commission ( EC) and some constituency executives, led by the Secretary, Nana Acquah colluded to rig the polls in favour of Nana Ama Dokua.

"Hon. Dokua was offering money to certain delegates in exchange for their votes. The recipients received their envelopes after casting their votes and were transported to the polling center one by one," A delegate named Patricia disclosed this in a WhatsApp audio intercepted by Ghanaguardian.com.

She continued, "I contacted my friends; Benedicta, Stella, and Comfort after learning that they were sharing money, and we headed to the hotel. We spoke with Nana Acquah, and I assumed he was going to give us our share of the money, but he indicated that there was a condition, which was to take a picture of yourself voting."

"I informed him that we couldn't do that because it was illegal for voters to snap a photo of themselves while casting a ballot, but he demanded that we put a rubber band on our hands instead. When I inquired as to if the bracelet was not a 'juju', he replied that its sole use was to help the police identify us as among the delegates they shouldn't arrest for using their phones in the voting booth," she revealed.

"After my friend Stella questioned why they were giving us those conditions, Nana Acquah told us that it was Ama Dokua's husband who was donating the envelopes and that he [Dokua's husband] said any delegate who takes the money should take a picture while casting their votes," she exposed.

Meanwhile, our efforts to get in touch with the MP for the Akropong seat to ask her to comment on the accusations made against her has been unsuccessful.
