PNC General Secretary, Atik Mohammed has pointed accusing fingers at some government officials suggesting that they were behind the Police disruption of the peaceful rally at Kawokudi that led to the arrest of Bernard Mornah.

The incident took place on Saturday morning when a gathering to rally support behind the people of Togo was disrupted by the Police.

The group, who are part of the Ghana-Togo Solidarity movement, were said to be holding a peaceful march to draw the attention of local and international authorities to the political crisis in Togo.

The Chairman of the People’s National Convention (PNC), Bernard Mornah, who happens to be the leader of the group was arrested along with several but was granted bail after spending several hours in custody.

Atik Mohammed speaking in an interview this morning accused officials of the government of masterminding the melee, “I suspect that some appointees of gov't who were not happy with the rally asked the police to do what they did on Saturday”

“There was no approval for the arrest and that alone indicates that the police who undertook the operation just wanted to disrupt the rally “

He assured that the Mornah will be suing Ghana Police Service, “This matter cannot be allowed to rest. The PNC Chairman has mentioned that he will see his lawyer today. I think the court will have to come in”

“I think we must operate in the confines of the law so that the police will not misapply its power “ - He argued
