Puffer fish has caused the death of a 64-year old farmer, while six of his household members have fallen sick after eating from the poisonous fish.

Eric Sidu, who happens to be the farmer was pronounced dead upon arrival at the Kpando Magaret Marquart Catholic Hospital consuming the fish and began shaking uncontrollably.

His daughter, son-in-law,and his three grandchildren are also the rest who ate from the fish as well and are currently been attended to at the hospital on admission.

Ms Mavis Sidu, his daughter who is recovering recalled the incident back to the Biakoye District Chief Executive, Ms Comfort Attah, on her hospital bed when she visited to find out how they were doing.

Four people from Alavanyo were reported dead last year after eating food prepared with puffer fish. The fish is known locally as “Gedde”.
