The Deputy Administrator of GIFEC, Mrs. Eva Andoh-Poku speaking at the climax of the training held at Nkawkaw, in the Kwahu West Municipality of the Eastern Region said the Artisanal Training is an initiative designed to provide practical and hands-on digital entrepreneurship training to a diverse group of Artisans.
According to her, ‘’The aim of this project is to empower local artisans within our communities with the skills they need to thrive in a digital age. Participants have acquired skills in the fundamentals of digital entrepreneurship and the basics of online platforms in navigating essential digital tools and applications’’.
She told the artisans that these skills will enable beneficiaries to reach a global audience through online platforms, adding that ‘’the skills acquired should not only enhance your personal and professional lives but also contribute to the overall development of your communities and the Country at large’’.
She explained that GIFEC in fulfilling its mandate has over the years provided ICT skills to over 35,000 citizens from diverse backgrounds, including teenage girls, women entrepreneurs, and people from marginalized groups such as KAYAYE.
She added that GIFEC has also set up over 1200 cyber labs in schools, institutions, and at Community ICT Centres.
She added that Under the Capacity Building Programme, GIFEC has conducted training for the unserved and underserved communities through laudable initiatives such as the Girls in ICT Project (which has trained 11,000 girls in basic ICT and coding) and this maiden Artisanal Training Programme; the reason for which we are gathered here this afternoon.
However, the Deputy Administrator of GIFEC, Mrs. Eva Andoh-Poku urges the participants across the country, to capitalize on the skills acquired through this rare opportunity, to enhance their businesses, employability, and lives in general to enjoy the economic benefits of the use of ICT.
