Aspirant of the flagbearership of the National Democratic Congress, Professor Joshua Alabi has stated that, contrary to the promise of the Akufo Addo administration to establish a district in each of the 275 constituency, he sees the establishment of cement block manufacturing factories.

Speaking earlier on Accra based radio station Starr FM, the former Vice Chancellor of the University of Professional Studies Accra (UPSA) said the ruling government need to made a lot of promises that got into the heads of the people and therefore the current administration needs to lift up their game.

He said,“They need to lift their game, the promises were too many and people bought into the promise. One District one factory programme for example, I’ve been going round and the factories I see are just block manufacturing factories. I don’t think they[government] created them but these are the factories I see and I think that they should do well when it comes to the promise of one district-one factory.”

Prior to the 2016 general elections, among the provisions in the manifesto of the then presidential aspirants Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo Addo was to establish a a factory in every district across the factory.

Although the Preident recently cu the sod for the promise he made, Professor Alabi has said there has been little progress so far.

Government has however released  an amount of GHC 465 million for the construction of the factories.
