Former Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan has revealed that the year 2010 was his best ever in terms of footballing success in his career.

Baby Jet as he is affectionately called was crowned the BBC best African footballer of the year in the 2010 season and finished runner up to Samuel Eto'o in the CAF African Player of the year gong.

Ghana's all time top scorer was also integral in helping the Black Stars to the finals of the Afcon 2010 only losing to Egypt after a Nagy Gedo goal late on.

Gyan was integral for Ghana scoring goals against Nigeria and Angola in the quarter and semi finals of the tournament.

As If that was not enough, Gyan also helped Ghana to the quarter finals of the 2010 FIFA World Cup scoring the winner against USA in the round of 16 stage and missing a decisive penalty against Uruguay that would have sent Ghana into the semi finals for the first time.

In a lengthy interview with TV3's Juliet Bawuah over the weekend he revealed it was his best despite missing that decisive penalty against Uruguay.

“The 2010 Football season was the best time in my career. I consider it as the best even though people may think it was the worst because of the penalty miss against Uruguay”.

Gyan is yet to win any significant trophy with the Black Stars but has some personal accolades playing across the Gulf Region.

He won these trophies at Al Ain FC including the UAE Pro League: 2011–12, 2012–13, 2014–15, UAE President's Cup: 2013–14 and Arabian Gulf Super Cup: 2012.

Personally he has also won the BBC African Footballer of the Year: 2010, CAF Team of the Year: 2010, 2013, 2014, UAE Pro League Top Scorer: 2011–12, 2012–13, 2013–14, AFC Champions League Top Scorer: 2014, AFC Foreign Player of the Year: 2014.
