Senegal coach Aliou Cisse criticized his team for letting Japan comeback twice in their 2-2 draw in the World Cup Group H game on Sunday.

Sadio Mane put Senegal ahead from close range after an awful mistake by Eiji Kawashima, the ball flying past the Japan keeper after his attempted punched clearance hit the Liverpool forward.

Japan were level before half-time through Takashi Inui's lovely curling finish, before Yuya Osako hit the crossbar.

Nineteen-year-old defender Moussa Wague thought he had sealed Senegal's second straight Group H win with a fine finish from an angle but substitute Keisuke Honda salvaged a point for Japan moments after coming on.

"Of course there are regrets but we must say we didn't see a great Senegal team tonight compared to the previous match against Poland," said Cisse.

"Despite the fact we were leading twice, what is annoying for me is the two goals we conceded," he added, accusing his players of lacking rigour and concentration.

"All I know is at this level of competition with the players we have today, who are world-class, these were avoidable goals. That is crystal clear."

Senegal, who remain joint top of the group with four points, play Colombia on Thursday and still have an excellent chance of reaching the last 16.
