Fifty-seven referees from the Northern and Southern zones have successfully completed their mandatory fitness test at the Ghanaman Soccer Center of Excellence, Prampram, in preparation for the 2024/25 Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League season.
The group, consisting of 27 center referees and 30 assistant referees, underwent a series of training exercises, including weekly video tests and periodic written exams on the Laws of the Game (LOTG) as mandated by FIFA.
Led by Referee Manager Alex Kotey and supported by instructors Louisa Amanor and Delight Alobu, the referees were trained on various aspects of match officiating, such as understanding rule amendments, tactical fouls, offside management, and posture and positioning on the field.
“We took them through amendments, posture and reading, tactical fouls, and managing off-sides. They have done written tests and other assessments to ensure they can implement what we’ve taught them.
From our evaluation, all of them are fit for the task ahead,” Instructor Louisa Amanor told ghanafa.org.
The 2024/25 Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League is set to kick off between Friday, October 18, and Monday, October 21, 2024, across the Northern and Southern zones.
