Over the years, there’s been a trend of how presidential candidates are elected in the country and following this trend, predictions have always come true.

Let’s see if it will work this year.

1. A Look At What’s Happening In The World

Whenever we are about to vote, we always take a cue from other countries and how things are turning out for them whether they are changing their sitting president or maintaining them. Last 4 years, most of the sitting presidents were retained but this year most of them have been changed especially USA and Nigeria and recently Gambia and Australia. Does it mean we will change ours too? We live to see.

2. The Decider

Every party in Ghana knows their strongholds but there are some regions which are classified swing regions. These do not have a particular pattern of voting and it’s always difficult to predict how they’ll vote in a particular election but their vote ultimately determines the winner. This is why most parties concentrate on Cape Coast and other towns in the Central region.

3. First Names

For many years now, it seems there is something unique about the name John. Every John that has contested the presidency in Ghana has won. It didn’t matter which party the person came from, so far as their first name is John, they won. Will it work this time around?

4. The Message

Whenever the message from the political parties talk about life and how hard it is, it seems to go in favour of them. For instance, when Kuffour first came, his message was, “Hwe w’asitina mu na to aba pa”, that touched many hearts, in 2008, Nana Akuffo Addo came with, “All Die Be Die” and NDC came with, “Ye Pe Asomdwoe” and Asomdwoe won. Now the message is Change on the part of the NPP and Changing Lives and Transforming Ghana on the part of NDC, let’s see how it plays out.

5. Sports

Whenever Kotoko wins the premiere league, NPP wins and whenever Hearts wins, NDC wins, will it work this time around? We live to see.

6. Supporters At Rally

Ghanaians predict the winner of an election based on the number of people who attend their rally. They however, forget that this number is just a drop in the ocean when we take the whole country. Plus, we know parties bus supporters from other areas to their rallies.

7. Prophesy

At this time of the year, pastors take advantage and come out with various prophecies they claim were revealed to them, to predict the outcome of the election. The funny thing is that they predict differently but always come out with a reason why their so-called prophecy didn’t come to pass.
