The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has officially announced that it will hold its presidential primaries on Saturday, January 31, 2026.

This decision was made during an important meeting of the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) on Tuesday, June 17, 2025.

Speaking after the meeting, the party’s General Secretary, Justin Frimpong Kodua, confirmed the date and said the move follows party rules.

“The Committee also spoke about the time for our presidential primaries. And again, the Committee agrees that that decision does not warrant amendment of our Constitution. And the National Council today also made the decision that the date for our presidential primaries is set for January 31, 2026. That will be the date that we shall hold our presidential primaries.

The announcement has sparked growing interest among party members and supporters, as the NPP begins the process of choosing its next flagbearer for the 2028 general elections.

Party officials say nomination guidelines, campaign timelines, and rules for the aspirants will be announced soon.

The NEC has promised that the primaries will be free, fair, and transparent, and will reflect the NPP’s commitment to democracy.
