MahamaCares goes live: Full list of 27 hospitals now enrolled to deliver specialised care across Ghana

The Ghana Medical Trust Fund — widely known as MahamaCares — is up and running, with a network of 27 health facilities across the country already enrolled and actively providing services to Ghanaians living with chronic and life-threatening conditions.

The Administrator of the fund, Adjoa Obuobia Darko-Opoku, made the disclosure during the Government’s Accountability Series on Monday, May 11, offering the public a detailed update on how the programme is taking shape on the ground.

Madam Obuobia explained that the Trust Fund was set up with a focused mandate — to mobilise resources that finance and support specialised medical care for patients battling conditions such as cancer and kidney disease, illnesses that have historically placed a crushing financial burden on affected families and often go untreated due to cost.

The facilities currently enrolled in the programme span teaching hospitals, regional hospitals, municipal hospitals and a selection of private and specialist institutions, ensuring a degree of geographic spread that gives patients across different parts of the country a point of access.
