A letter to the president on the murder of Zongo 7

Dear President Akufo-Addo,

We've been quiet since the Police murdered in cold blood, seven youth in Asawase because you assured us JUSTICE.

And we were all for it, when you instituted a committee to investigate it.

Nonetheless, you surprised us with your decision to keep secret, names of members of the committee. Your representative in the Ashanti Region even termed, indirectly, the names classified information. Unreasonable though!

This committee, I refer to as 'Ghost Committee' because they're unknown, was given 30 days to complete their work - the duration has expired, and I know you know; but nothing so far has come from them, your representative or yourself.

Sir, I will be blunt here, if you're rehearsing to roll-out similar tactics used when you received the Australia Gold Coast Visa Scandal report; where your senior appointees were cleared but the report was never made public - it will be received with a grain of salt and subsequently REJECTED. JUSTICE is what we need!

My checks recently revealed the youth of Asawase will in the coming weeks take to the street to demand JUSTICE for their lost brothers, if they don't hear from you; and I believe you're matured enough to anticipate the consequences. A word to a wise................

Thank you!

Sincerely yours,

Shiva Oppong Banahene
