A Plus, born Kwame Asare Obeng, tore up the letter the New Patriotic Party (NPP) wrote to the UTV management requesting a reform of the United Showbiz program.

The letter was referred to as "useless" and "disgusting" by A Plus, who also advised the NPP leadership not to act in the same way again since it would only encourage the panelists to attack the government more.

In order to buttress his argument, A Plus cited Article 162(4) of the 1992 Constitution, which states that under no circumstances shall any political party or government alter or influence the editorial content of any media organization in the country.

The management of the Despite Media Group recently received a petition from the NPP asking them to stop the continuous criticism of the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia-led administration by the United Showbiz panelists.

The party requested that the management of the media house implement changes targeted at ensuring fairness in the panels and contributions to its flagship entertainment program.

In the petition, the NPP leadership expressed concern over what they perceived as a recurring trend on the platform and also raised questions about the program's intentions, claiming that it has displayed bias against the government.

The NPP's Director of Finance and Administration, William Yeboah in the letter complained that there has been an increase in derogatory remarks directed at the presidency during recent episodes of the program.

But, A Plus pointed out that Mr. Logic, who also serves as a panelist on the United Showbiz program, has been standing up for the NPP and defending the government ever since.

He claims that the NPP now demanded fair panel participation after realizing that Mr. Logic is a supporter of Kennedy Agyapong.

"When you continue doing stuff like this, this is what will make people say that the whole party is set up into a certain direction at this point," he said, adding that the letter sent to UTV management contributes to making the job of this government more challenging.

According to A Plus, the government should stop attacking UTV because the Minister of Information, his two deputies, and the government spokesperson at the Information Ministry are all that are needed to promote the government's policies and plans.

"The government cannot decide which content UTV airs on the United Showbiz, and you cannot tell us what we should say on the platform, especially when the President of Ghana is an astute lawyer and someone who believes in the rule of law," he added, as he cautioned the NPP over their alleged threats to shut down the show.
