The Ashanti Regional Police command has secured a bench warrant for the arrest of the Assembly Member for Aful Nkwanta electoral area, Lawrence Adu Dapaah also known as Chief.

Dapaah was arrested Wednesday for assaulting a female MMTD officer, stationed to direct traffic behind the KMA’s main office verbally.

He was given bail after spending close to 8hours in the Kumasi Central Police cells with a directive to report at the station every day as part of conditions of his bail.

Dapaah, however, refused to comply with the conditions, provoking the Regional Police Command to beseech the court for a bench warrant, which was granted for his arrest.

Sources with knowledge of the arrest have told Ultimate FM’s Isaac Bediako that the Kumasi Mayor Osei Assibey Antwi and the Presiding Member of the KMA have been pushing for an amicable statement of the case, proposing out of court settlement to avoid the shame the case will bring on Assembly.

Checks by Ultimate FM reveal that the beleaguered Assembly Memberfew months ago had a similar case at Zongo Police station where he was bailed by his colleague Assembly Member for Angloga East electoral area Gariba.

According to Bediako, Dapaah’s felt disgraced by his conduct, calling for him to be sanctioned for muddying the name of the KMA.
