BLAG Ghana Limited has completed and hand over ultramodern astro turf  at the Konadu Yiadom Basic School Park in the Kumasi  Metropolis  of the Ashanti Region to authorities.

The Three Hundred thousand dollars ($300,000) project was funded by Ghana National Petroleum Commission (GNPC) Foundation.

The move was spearhead by his royal majesty Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and supported by the Member of Parliament for Manhyia South,Dr.Mathew Opoku Prempeh.

According to the contractor, BLAG Ghana Limited, the transformation of the Konadu Yiadom Basic School Park, forms part of GNPC Foundation's several projects under construction across the country.

Speaking at the technical hand over ceremony, the Chief Operating Officer of BLAG Ghana, Eddie Dankwa, said the artificial turf would provide footballers within  the Manhyia South Constituency and its environs the opportunity to build their careers on a FIFA certified pitch.

“We have been in this business for a very long time and our focus is to continue providing our customers with the best of turf which the the Konadu Yiadom Basic School Park remains an example''. He said

“The focus is to help give every community park a facelift with FIFA-certified artificial grass to help build careers from the grassroots,” Mr Dankwa added.

Mr. Dominic Kwasi Eduah, the director of GNPC Foundation,  addressing the media stated that the completed facility would serve the people of Manhyia South and the Ashanti region well.

“The pitch I'd going to help the people of Manhyie south and Ashanti region as a whole.”

He however urged the authorities incharge of the pitch to adopt maintenance culture to help park last for a longer period.

Appreciation

Nana Kwaku Duah, Kokosohene who chaired the event expressed his  appreciation to GNPC for building the artificial pitch for the residents of Manhyia South.

He disclosed that the Manhyia South Constituency had bad pitches, and the constructed facility is timely since the youth can now have a better field to play football on and also be used for other social gathering.

Nana Kwaku Duah lamented that the journey to start the project was not easy but with the intervention of  Otumfuo  it has been completed.
