Abdul Salam Yakubu, the executive chairman of New Edubiase United, has expressed his belief that Ghana's two most iconic football clubs, Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko, should be showcasing their title-winning potential both domestically and on the continental stage.

According to the experienced football administrator, these clubs, with their rich histories, should be leveraging significant investment to ensure they dominate in their performances both in the Ghana Premier League and African competitions.

In an interview with Asempa FM, Yakubu emphasized the importance of investment in football, stating:

"Hearts of Oak is a big brand in Africa. Their standard should have been at the level of Al Ahly. Where we are now, everything is about investment.

Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko are big clubs in Africa, but for so many years, they haven’t done well. If you invest in football, the results will come."

Yakubu's comments reflect the growing concern among football enthusiasts in Ghana regarding the underwhelming performance of both clubs in recent years.

While Asante Kotoko has managed to maintain a relatively stable position in the Ghana Premier League, their dominance on the continent has been lacking.

Hearts of Oak, meanwhile, have struggled both locally and internationally, leaving fans questioning the future of these once-formidable African giants.

Yakubu’s perspective is clear: with the right financial backing and strategic investment, both Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko could regain their status as African football powerhouses, comparable to clubs like Egypt's Al Ahly.
