The Accra High Court has sentenced a 46-year-old man, Haruna Moro, to 15 years’ imprisonment with hard labour after finding him guilty of raping a 16-year-old girl.

The offence, which dates back to 2021, occurred at Domeabra, where the teenage victim was earning a living as a hawker. Following a full trial, a seven-member jury returned a 5–2 majority verdict in favour of conviction.

Based on the jury’s decision, the court convicted Moro and imposed the custodial sentence, bringing the case to a close and underscoring the judiciary’s stance against sexual violence, particularly crimes involving minors.
