Hearts of Oak suffered a disappointing 1-0 defeat at the hands of Accra Lions in the Ghana Premier League clash held at the Accra Sports Stadium on Wednesday.

Ibrahim Issah's second-half goal proved to be the difference between the two sides, securing a crucial victory for the visitors.

Despite several attempts from Hearts of Oak, including efforts from Linda Mtange, Salim Adams, Hamza Issah, and Dennis Korsah, it was Accra Lions who emerged triumphant in the highly anticipated capital derby.

Accra Lions displayed solid defensive resilience to maintain their slender lead and clinch the victory at the Accra Sports Stadium, adding to Hearts of Oak's recent woes following their previous defeat against Legon Cities.

The hosts started brightly, with Mtange and Adams posing threats to the visitors' defense early on.

Adams even forced a remarkable save from the Accra Lions' goalkeeper with a powerful free-kick from the edge of the box.

However, Accra Lions quickly regained control of the game, launching several attacks with Dominic Amponsah coming close to opening the scoring.

In the second half, Blessing Asuman had a promising opportunity to break the deadlock for Accra Lions, but his chance went begging after being sent through by Mohammed Shawkan.

The visitors continued to dominate proceedings, and it was Amponsah who almost found the breakthrough before a swift counterattack resulted in Issah's decisive goal for Accra Lions.

Yahaya Mohammed had a golden chance to double the lead but narrowly missed with his chip over Hearts of Oak's goalkeeper.

Despite late efforts from Hearts of Oak, including attempts from Issah and Korsah, it was too little, too late to salvage a point as Accra Lions secured a memorable victory in the capital derby.
