The National Sports Authority has officially declared the temporary closure of the Accra Sports Stadium for all sporting activities throughout the month of December.

In a letter dated October 27, 2023, and signed by Professor Peter Twumasi, clubs currently utilizing the Accra Sports Stadium have been instructed to relocate their home games to alternative venues during this period.

As a result of this decision, popular teams such as Hearts of Oak, Great Olympics, and Accra Lions will be compelled to play their December home matches away from the Accra Sports Stadium.

Simultaneously, the stadium will be repurposed to host concerts and other non-sporting events during the specified time frame.

"The National Sports Authority wishes to inform you about the unavailability of the Accra Sports Stadium in December for all sporting activities.

By this letter, the clubs who use the Accra Sports Stadium are entreated to use their alternative venues to honor their home games in December," stated a section of the letter.
