She recently sparked speculation she and partner Simon Konecki had married after she was spotted with a gold ring on her wedding finger.

However new reports claim that singer Adele has simply become engaged to her partner of five years, and is now planning a ceremony in the UK.

According to The Sunday People, the 28-year-old secretly agreed to wed her beau, 42, back in October - and while they were keen to marry this Christmas, their plans fell through.

The paper reports that the pair wanted to tie the knot this month, but it was too short notice for their respective families to get over to the States where the couple are currently residing.

An insider told the publication: “As it was such short notice people already had plans.

“Adele and Simon are very family-orientated and wanted those closest to them there on their special day so they decided to postpone getting married.”
They then added: “A wedding is still very much on the horizon, but where and when haven't been decided yet.”

The couple, who have four-year-old Angelo together, are now reportedly planning nuptials for when they return to the UK in March - with East Sussex, where Simon grew up, thought to be a top choice for location.

MailOnline has contacted Adele's representatives for comment.

The Rumour Has It crooner first sparked speculation that she and her man had got hitched last week, when she was spotted with a gold band on her fourth finger in LA.

Adele and Simon, the chief of charity Drop4Drop, were first introduced by Ed Sheeran and are thought to have begun dating in late 2011.

The pair welcomed their son Angelo in October 2012 and have gone from strength to strength since - with the trio recently moving into a £6million mansion in Beverly Hills.

The Someone Like You singer was also surprised by Simon for their fifth anniversary at her concert in Nashville, Tennessee, in October.

Simon penned heartfelt messages including “I love you” and “You are an angel” on thousands of pieces of confetti that fell from the ceiling at the end of her show.

Aside from her personal life, Adele's career appears to be only be on the up too – as she nabbed the titled of Billboard's Top Artist of the Year for the third time last week.

Fans of the singer have bought more than nine million copies of the critically-acclaimed album 25, which dominated the charts for much of the year.
