Guinea secured a place in the quarter-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations with a dramatic 98th-minute victory over Equatorial Guinea, thanks to Mohamed Bayo's decisive header.

The match, marked by a series of tense moments, saw Equatorial Guinea's Federico Bikoro sent off, a missed penalty, and ultimately, Bayo's late heroics.

Equatorial Guinea faced adversity when Bikoro received a red card in the 55th minute for a high challenge on Bayo.

Despite being a man down, the National Thunder had an opportunity to take the lead when they were awarded a penalty after Iban Salvador was fouled by Sekou Sylla.

However, captain Emilio Nsue's effort struck the base of the right-hand upright, leaving the score level.

As the game approached extra time, Bayo emerged as the hero for Guinea.

In the 98th minute, he connected with Ibrahim Diakite's cross from the right, guiding a header just inside the near post to secure the victory.

With this win, Guinea advances to the quarter-finals, where they await the outcome of the match between Egypt and DR Congo to discover their next opponent.

The quarter-final clash is scheduled to take place in Abidjan on Friday, adding another chapter to Guinea's journey in the tournament.
