Ghanaian national team coach Otto Addo is preparing for a tough challenge from Kwesi Appiah's Sudan side in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.

The Black Stars have been drawn into Group F, where they will face Angola, Sudan, and Niger, following the draw on Thursday.

As the four teams vie for a spot in the 35th edition of Africa's premier football tournament, Addo remains optimistic about Ghana's prospects but is aware of the strength of their opponents.

Addo specifically highlighted the capabilities of Sudan under the guidance of former Black Stars coach Kwesi Appiah.

"Sudan are really, really doing well at the moment with Kwesi Appiah, who I know personally. He is a very good coach.

They are not a known squad but, like I said, they are doing really, really good at the moment in the World Cup qualification games, very, very tough to beat.

It’s going to be a really big challenge to beat them and for this, we have to be at our 100% best," Addo noted.

Addo also expressed excitement about the upcoming encounters and emphasized the need for Ghana to perform at their highest level.

"It’s not easy but we have a strong team and we surely can beat them, this is for sure," he added.

With Ghana's last AFCON title dating back to 1982, the Black Stars are determined to make a significant impact in the upcoming qualifiers and secure a spot in the tournament set to take place in Morocco in late December 2025 and January 2026.
