The acting General Secretary of the Convention Peoples Party (CPP) has abandoned his party to endorse a re-election of President John Mahama.

Yaw Assani Tannoh explained his decision: “If it is development, I will vote for President Mahama because he has done a lot of development in the country. My party and the flagbearer do not deserve my vote and the rest of Ghanaians”.

Announcing his decision to endorse the NDC presidential candidate on Onua FM’s Kokromoti on Monday, Mr. Assani Tannoh claimed “ever since we had our congress…the flagbearer does not work with me”.

He accused Ivor Greenstreet of failing to form an all-inclusive campaign team after he was given the nod to lead the CPP into the 2016 elections.

He said “I don’t know whatever goes on in the party and I have consistently called him to make him aware that what he is doing is not good but he does not care”.

Mr. Assani Tannoh said “he [Ivor Kobina Greenstreet] rejected all the plans that I put across to help us win the presidency and so I will vote for President Mahama”.

He alleged that “I have report the issues to the National Chairman and the candidate himself on several occasions” and as a result “the chairman has even ban me from coming to his office so for over two months now, I have not been to his [Chairman, Prof Edmond Delle’s] office”

Reacting to the issue, the CPP National Organizer, Emmanuel Kwabena Ogbordjor said “if I were the National Chairman I will call for emergency meeting to expel him from the party. I will be very happy if the National Chairman will expel him from the party”.

He said the party’s constitution forbids members from endorsing a candidate other than their own.
