Former Ghana international Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu has voiced his support for under-pressure Black Stars coach Otto Addo, urging Ghanaians to back the coach as he faces a challenging Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualification campaign.

Addo, reappointed in March on a 34-month contract with an optional 24-month extension, has come under scrutiny following Ghana's disappointing performance in the AFCON qualifiers.

Ghana currently sits third in Group F with just two points from four games, leaving their qualification hopes in jeopardy.

The Black Stars have faced setbacks, including a 1-0 loss to Angola and a 1-1 draw with Niger in their opening games. More recently, they were held to a goalless draw by Sudan at home, followed by a 2-0 away defeat in Libya.

Despite the difficult start, Agyemang-Badu, a 2009 FIFA U-20 World Cup winner, praised Addo's previous work, including guiding Ghana to the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

"He’s one of us, and he’s been consistently involved with the national team. He knows the landscape well,” Agyemang-Badu told *Flashscore*.

Reflecting on Addo's efforts to stabilize the squad during World Cup qualifiers, Agyemang-Badu urged full support for the coach:

“Though he didn’t secure wins, he managed to lead the country to qualify for the World Cup. The performance wasn’t bad, even though we didn’t advance past the group stage."

Agyemang-Badu emphasized that Addo’s long-term contract is part of a plan to rebuild the team, adding, “At this stage, it’s challenging for the coach alone—he needs everyone’s support.”

The Black Stars will conclude their qualification campaign later this month, facing Angola and Niger.

Ghana’s AFCON hopes hinge on these games and the outcome of Sudan’s remaining matches.
