President Akufo-Addo has sworn in  the 2016 Flagbearer of the People’s National Convention (PNC), Edward Nasigri Mahama as an Ambassador-at-Large.

He was among 22 others who have been appointed to represent Ghana as diplomats in other countries, who  were all sworn in by the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on Monday.

An ambassador-at-large is an ambassador with special duties but not appointed to a particular country and he will hold that  ‘free role’ position together with  Mr. Rasheed Seidu Inusah has also been named among the 22 sworn in.

The 72 year old medical doctor has on unsuccessfully  led the People's National Convention into Presidential elections on five occasions-1996, 2000,2004,2008 and 2016-making him the long-running presidential candidate for the party.

Others who were also part of the 22 sworn in include former Attorney General, Ayikoi Otoo was is to represent Ghana in Canada, George Ayisi Boateng; South Africa and Mercy Bampoe Addo for Malta.

Others include  Paul Oko; Egypt, Kwasi Owusu Yeboa; Togo, Miss Sophia Horner-Sam; Netherlands, Mrs Amerleey Olennu; Denmark, Mrs. Elizabeth Salamtu; Namibia, Gen. Francis Adu-Amanfoh; Mali and Salma Francess Mancell-Egala; Turkey,whose appointment has been challenged by her late husband's family.
