The Member of Parliament (MP) for Ningo Prampram Constituency in the Greater Accra Region, Hon. Samuel Nartey George popularly referred to as Gyata has described the President, Nana Akufo-Addo as a ‘sound bite’ President who mostly talks but does not walk his talk.

Appearing on After Hours on TV3, the Ningo Prampram legislator indicated “…I’ve been fortunate to have served in the office of the president when we were in government and I understand what presidency and governance look like”.

According to him, Mr. Akufo-Addo’s style of governance is bedeviled with more talks than actions.

“…Well, I’ve had my own opinion about his governance and I think he himself has realized that it’s one thing to be in opposition and speak and it’s another thing to be in government. He’s a lot more sound bite; he gives more sound bite as a president than actions as a president”.

When asked if his party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) was worried over the President’s choice of Martin Amidu as a Special Prosecutor, Hon Sam George replied “why should we? He’s welcome, why should anybody have sleepless night about it? Why should I be afraid of a Special Prosecutor who’s supposed to take his powers from the Attorney General when she herself in one year has not been able to prosecute anybody”?

According to him, the Senior Minister, Yaw Osafo Marfo has hinted on how difficult the Special Prosecutor’s job was going to be, because “all the allegations the New Patriotic Party (NPP) made during the electioneering campaign were based on perception, as they are now looking for evidence to back their claims”.

He said that is why the ruling government has not been able to persecute any member of the NDC a year on after attaining of power.
