Media personality Akwasi Nsiah, is calling for the arrest and prosecution of Hon. Samuel Abu Jinapor on the grounds that his ministry, the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources, has not done a good job of making excavators that have been taken from illicit miners useful.

According to Akwasi Nsiah, an Adom TV host, about 122 excavators have been left to rot on a plot of land in Adentan that belongs to the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority under the supervision of hon. Samuel Abu Jinapor.

"If you know the Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Samuel Abu Jinapor, call him and tell him that this morning we are here because of him," he called the Minister out on 'Asem Yi Di Ka' on the Badwam morning show.

He stated, "Over 122 excavators have been seized and parked on Aviation land in Adentan for 3 to 4 years now, and these excavators are getting rotten while district assemblies keep spending huge money to hire excavators to desilt gutters."

The outspoken journalist said that it is absurd to discard the equipment while our district assemblies are renting excavators for their local projects, citing news from the Citi FM website to bolster his claims.

He claimed that his own investigations have shown that these excavators are guarded by five police officers assigned from police headquarters each day.

He disclosed that the installation of CCTV in the area and the connection of electricity to the location for the guards' usage all amounted to financial losses for the state.

Akwasi Nsiah stated that he is unable to understand why the government is spending so much money to preserve equipment that have been left to rot instead of giving them to the local assemblies for use.

He, thus, suggested that the sector minister be taken on and made to account for his irresponsibilities.
