The former Vice Chancellor of the University of Professional Studies (UPSA) Prof. Joshua Alabi has called on the other presidential aspirants who competed against John Mahama in the primaries to lend support to the former president.

Prof, Alabi who was also an aspirant in the just ended National Democratic  Congress (NDC) flagbearership election came second to John Mahama, who won the vote with over 95% of the total vote cast.

Speaking at a conference in Accra, Mr Alabi said, the party with a united front can snatch victory in the 2020 general elections.

He said, “We now require leadership to achieve our goals and leadership requires everybody’s involvement. This is why we need all hands on deck. I am very confident that with the unity in our party, the NDC will win the 2020 election. I wish to use this opportunity to call on aspirants to contribute towards NDC agenda 2020.”

All the other aspirants who competed in the primaries have congratulated Mr Mahama in his victory.

Speaking after being declared the winner, he stated that he was touched by the overwhelming support that was shown him in the election.

He said, “I’m deeply touched by the overwhelming endorsement I have received from the grassroots of the party. It is a call to action. I want to thank my fellow aspirants for the good fight they put up in this race. Their participation in this contest has exhibited that our party is the most democratic and peaceful in our country’s democracy today. Our journey to 2020 victory begins today.”
