Ghana international Alexander Djiku was sent off early in Fenerbahce's crucial 1-0 away victory against Galatasaray in the Turkish Super Lig on Sunday.

The Black Stars defender received his marching orders just 21 minutes into the week 37 clash at RAMS Park after accumulating two yellow cards.

Djiku's first booking came in the 12th minute, followed by a second caution in the 21st minute, leading to his expulsion from the game.

Despite being reduced to ten men, Fenerbahce managed to secure a vital win against their fierce rivals. Turkey international Caglar Soyuncu emerged as the hero, scoring the match-winner in the 71st minute.

This victory narrows the gap in the title race, leaving Fenerbahce just three points behind league leaders Galatasaray with one game remaining in the campaign.

Djiku is expected to miss Fenerbahce's final league game of the season against Istanbulspor next weekend due to his suspension.

The 29-year-old Ghanaian defender has made 24 appearances in the Turkish Super Lig this season, contributing three goals and two assists.

Djiku's performances have been notable, and he is anticipated to be named in the Black Stars squad for the upcoming 2026 World Cup qualification matches against Mali and the Central African Republic next month.

His defensive skills will be crucial for Ghana as they aim to secure their place in the World Cup.
