After a disappointing 2-1 loss to Cape Verde in their opening Group B game at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, Alexander Djiku is urging his teammates to adopt a more aggressive style of play to improve their chances against Egypt and Mozambique.

Djiku, who delivered a world-class performance in the defeat to Cape Verde, expressed disappointment with the outcome but remains confident in the team's ability to secure victories in the upcoming matches.

In a post-match interview, the Montpellier-born defender emphasized the need for the Black Stars to work harder, create more chances, and be more aggressive to secure wins in the remaining group games.

"It’s so difficult, but we need to do more," Djiku said. "We need to be more aggressive, we need to play more, we need to create more chances, and we need to also score. We have another game, and we need to win that one."

Djiku, who made his debut for Ghana in October 2020, currently plays for Turkish Super Lig club Fenerbahçe and has accumulated 25 caps with two goals for the national team.
