Ghanaian midfielder Alhassan Wakasu is close to making a return after  more than half a year since his last match for Vitoria Guimaraes.

The 27-year-old midfielder has returned to training with his team mates after a long time on the sidelines.

Although the medical team are optimistic about his return its still early to pinpoint a date for a return to competitive football, but his development can and should be seen as a giant step in a long recovery process following a serious right knee surgery he sustained some six months ago

It was on May 5 this year that Wakaso played his last game for  Vitória de Guimarães, in a game which he was even sent off on 24 minutes.

The season ended shortly thereafter and while everyone went on vacation, the Ghanaian stayed a few more days in Guimarães to undergo treatment.

Wakasu started training some where last week and is raring to go after a long lay off and is looking ahead to get back on to the pitch with his team mates in matches.
