Black Stars defender Alidu Seidu has openly embraced the label of "mummy’s boy," crediting his achievements to the unwavering support and sacrifices made by his mother during his upbringing.
He reflects deeply on the challenges they faced as a family and the strength his mother showed in providing for them, despite the difficult circumstances.
"My mum went through a lot. I witnessed her struggle just to put food on the table for us," Seidu shared in an interview with Flashscore.
"My main motivation is to see her smile. She always worked hard to ensure we had what we needed. Even when there was nothing, she never gave up, and that’s something I will always remember."
Seidu's rise to prominence in football wasn't easy. He faced several rejections while trying to join the prestigious JMG Academy but remained determined and eventually earned his place.
It was at the academy where his talent blossomed, paving the way for his move to France, where he began his professional career.
Starting with Clermont, Seidu worked his way up from the B team to the senior squad, making his mark in Ligue 1.
Now playing for Rennes, his performances have earned him a market value of 9 million euros, showcasing his development and consistency on the field.
With 17 caps and a goal for the Black Stars, Seidu was part of Ghana's squad at the 2022 World Cup.
His continued contributions at both club and national levels underline his importance as Ghana seeks further international success in the years ahead.
