As the Black Stars gear up for their pivotal 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Sudan, defender Alidu Seidu is fully aware of the stakes.

With just one point from their first two matches against Angola and Niger, Ghana faces intense pressure to secure victories and reignite their qualifying campaign.

Reflecting on the team's recent 1-1 draw with Niger, where Seidu scored his first international goal, the defender stressed the lessons learned from that match.

“Playing 1-1 against Niger will serve as a lesson for us. We are going to give everything to beat Sudan home and away,” Seidu stated in an interview with Flashscore.

He admitted the Black Stars had a shaky start against Niger, losing possession in crucial moments. "When I scored, I wasn’t too happy because I knew we could do better.

Playing in Africa means that scoring one is never enough," he explained. Seidu was already thinking about securing a second goal even after his breakthrough strike, recognizing the need for greater focus and improvement.

The upcoming matches against Sudan are critical for Ghana, as they currently sit in a precarious position in their qualifying group.

With two back-to-back fixtures—first at the Accra Sports Stadium on October 10 and then in Libya on October 15—the Black Stars must secure maximum points to keep their qualification hopes alive.

Seidu remains confident yet composed ahead of the encounters, saying, “Tempers will be high for the Sudan game, but no pressure.”

His determination is evident as he aims to channel the intensity surrounding the matches into strong performances. “I will try to give everything and enjoy football so people are happy,” he added, mindful of the expectations from the team's supporters.

With renewed focus and the backing of the fans, Seidu and the Black Stars are ready to face Sudan, determined to revive their path to AFCON 2025.
