The news of Alan Kyerematen's departure from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) continues to be a subject of discussion among Ghanaians, and Johnnie Hughes, a well-known Media General broadcaster, has weighed in on the matter.

The host of Sunrise on 3FM argued that the former Trade Minister's choice to leave the NPP was unnecessary and that an elephant cannot give birth to a butterfly.

Speaking on the Johnnie's Bite segment Tuesday morning, Johnnie Hughes asked, "How can an elephant give birth to a butterfly?"

He pointed out that Mr. Alan Kyeremanten has played a significant role in the Akufo-Addo administration and has contributed to the current economic difficulties in Ghana.

According to Johnnie Hughes, if Mr. Kyerematen had been honest in his desire to lead Ghana, he would have left the Akufo-Addo administration long before the time he actually resigned as a minister.

He said Alan Kyerematen should be among the last to talk about change in Ghana because the NPP ran its campaign on a platform of change, but nothing has changed since it came to power.

"He should be one of the last people along with Dr. Bawumia, along with Dr. Afriyie Akoto, along with all of them talking about change, because they campaigned heavily on change, that we were going to get change but what has changed?" He quizzed.

In Johnnie's analysis, Alan Kyerematen's exit from the NPP was pointless because it wouldn't result in any changes for him personally or for Ghanaians as a whole.

On Monday, September 25, 2023, Alan Kyerematen formally left the NPP.

This came after he withdrew from the NPP flagbearer contest because the party's Super Delegates Conference in August 2023 did not go particularly well for him.

His political organization is called Movement for Change.
