Black Stars captain and Al Sadd forward Andre Ayew finished the season as the top goal scorer for his Qatari side as they won the league title.

Al Sadd SC lifted their sixteenth league trophy after drawing 1-1 with Al Duhail SC at the Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium in Doha and ended the season unbeaten.

Ayew netted 15 goals and ended as the top scorer as they lifted the Qatar Stars League while Algerian international Baghdad Bounedjah finished below the former West Ham United player with 13 goals while Akram Afif scored 13 goals and provided 16 assists.

Al Sadd manager Javi Garcia congratulated the Ghanaian and his teammates for their latest achievement.

“I congratulate all the players in the team for this victory. We achieved something very special, and we managed to finish the league championship without any loss and with a new record," he told the club's website.

“We achieved a new record for the team, and I congratulate the previous coaching staff and all the team members for achieving this difficult and remarkable number," he added.

Regarding Friday's match, Gracia said: “It was not easy at all. Everyone knows that we will play an important match in two days and we have to now work on the recovery of the players to be ready for the next match.”
