Ghana captain and Swansea City player Andre Ayew is close to the end of his contract with the Welsh club as his contract run out as early as June.

The 31 year old can begin to speak to clubs outside England as he will be a free agent in the summer and could leave as a free agent.

Ayew who is making his second stint with Swansea rejoined the club from West Ham United for £18m in 2018 after a failed move.

The Ghana captain signed a three and half year deal for Swansea in 2018 and expires at the end of the current season with the likelihood of his deal not being renewed with Swansea's promotion push in the balance.

He has been a key part of the Swansea City side after he emerged as the top scorer for the club last season in their failed promotion push.

Ayew may leave the Welsh side should Steve Cooper's side fail to secure promotion to the English Premier League.

"We will see. When you start thinking about that, it takes away some of your focus, and I don't want that," Ayew told FourFourTwo on his contract renegotiation.

"It could get to a point where that question will come - 'Are you staying or going?' - but right now I'm happy here.

He has made 38 appearances this season for the club scoring 14 goals.
