Instant messaging app WhatsApp has started testing the Group Invitation feature on the Android operating system and will roll it out for beta users. According to WABetaInfo, the website that keeps a track of the upcoming WhatsApp features, the feature even though has not been rolled out the latest 2.19.55 update, but it will soon be.

Incidentally, WABetaInfo shared the screenshots of the same feature on an iPhone earlier this month, which means that there won't be a huge time interval between the feature being rolled out to both the operating systems. "The feature will be enabled in future and it requires a lot of time to be enabled," said WABetaInfo.

As per the report, the upcoming Group Invitation feature will come in the Privacy section. To reach there, you will have to open Settings > Account > Privacy. Under the Read receipt option, you will find a new section called 'Groups'. Once you open it, you will see these three options -- Everyone, My contacts and Nobody. Under that, the text reads "Admins who can't add you to a group will have the option of sending you a private invite. By default we allow everyone to add you to groups."

If you select 'Everyone', then you can be added to any group irrespective of the fact that the admin is in your contact list or not. If you select 'My Contacts' then you will be added in groups only by the contacts in the phonebook. If a non-contact tries to add you, then you will get a private invite to join the group. If you select 'Nobody' then each time you are added to a group, you will get a private invite. It has been previously reported that this invite, will lead to a new chat with two options -- Accept and Decline. Also you will get 72 hours to make the choice, after which it will expire.
