Another Bawumia vision comes alive as Ghanacard combines with credit scoring to enable drivers buy fuel on credit

In a remarkable move that is set to bring much-sought after relief to thousands of commercial drivers, one can now be able to deploy their Ghanacard and their credit worthiness to buy fuel on credit.

While many oil marketing companies are said to be set to launch the project, one of them, Star Oil, has already embraced the concept, which has, once again, earned former Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, plaudits, given his relentless campaign for a credit scoring system in Ghana using the Ghanacard, which he also championed, as a benchmark, to avoid instant cash payments for those who cannot afford, and make life easier for people.

In a Facebook post on Monday December 8, Star Oil announced a scheme dubbed, Fuel Now, Pay Later, which combines the Ghanacard and the Credit Scoring System and allows drivers to buy fuel on credit.

First, a driver will have to down the my credit score app and then use their Ghanacard to register and verifu their identity. Once that is complete, the system will determine the credit rating of the individual and he will be able to buy the fuel on credit from selected Star Oil stations and pay the later through their mobile money accounts.
