Members of the Ghana First Patriotic Front (GFPF) and are expected to stage a demonstration against the ratified Ghana-US defence cooperation agreement today, Wednesday, 28 March 2018.
As part of the agreement, the United States of America’s government will be spending $20million in training and supplying equipment for the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF).
Ghana has also agreed to bear the cost and take primary responsibility for securing US military facilities in the country.
The approval of the agreement was done by only the majority side of parliament with the minority staging a walkout.
Pressure group, Ghana First Patriotic is strongly kicking against the defence deal with their street protest today.
The protest has the full backing of main opposition National Democratic Congress, other political parties and some civil society organisation.
Meanwhile, the police has assured of readiness to supervise the demonstration.
The march which starts from Obra Spot will take protestor through the Kwame Nkrumah venue to Farisco Traffic Light to TUC to EOCO and end at Hearts Park.
