It has been emerged that; the photo where a dead body was being conveyed on a motorbike,which has gone viral on social media and news portals was staged.

It has earlier been speculated that commercial motorbikes popularly known as Okada are being used as ambulance at Apaw Wawase, a farming community in the Ayensuano District of the Eastern region because the road to the community is not motorable.

According to the report, the Okada also serves as hearse to convey dead bodies to and from the morgue for burial in the community.

But in an exclusive interview with Apau Wawase Community Leader, Philip Konyor, he told Ghanaguardian's Eric Nana Prekoh that, the photo ['a dead body' in the middle of two guys on a motorbike] was staged.

"The story is not true, the reporter staged them to snap the picture.", he said.

He however admitted the road connecting Apau Wawase to Asuboi and Suhum were nothing to write home about. He said the road continue to deteriorate hence drivers have stopped plying that stretch.

Mr Konyor added that the okada is the only means of transport used to carry foodstuffs to market and transport passengers.

Again, he said the commercial motorbikes are being used as ambulance to transport patients including pregnant women in labour from the health center in the community to referral hospitals.

He appealed to appealed to the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, Hon Ayeh Paye who is the chairman of Parliamentary Select Committee on Roads and Transport, and the government to come to construct the road for them.
