The Appiate Disaster Relief Committee is pushing for a percentage of the Appiate Support Fund to be released to them for their operations.

The Public Relations Officer of the Committee, Thywill Quarshie, made the appeal after indicating that their accounts are currently empty and would not be able to cater to the needs of affected school children in the community.

Speaking to Citi News, Thywill Quarshie said several requests made to Appiate Support Fund chaired by Dr. Joyce Aryee have been counterproductive.

“Almost every bill concerning Appiate was borne by the Disaster Relief Committee. For instance, when someone is going to deliver, we foot the bills. All donations that have come so far do not get to us, but the Support fund is mandated to reconstruct the community.”

“The MCE and the Divisional Chief tried on several occasions to draw their attention to it, to no avail. From the responses received so far, it seems as though the focus is more on reconstructing the committee than providing residents with the needed relief.”
