NEW DELHI: Although the Apple iPhones, iPads, MacBooks and other products get a refresh almost every year, one of the oldest iDevices that have not yet got an update ever since 2015 is the iPod. The one launched in 2015 is the latest iteration of the iconic music player. But it looks like after three years, the iPod line up could get a refresh as well. A report by the Macotakara website indicates that Apple is working on a new iPod device.

The report suggests that the new iPod could come as a successor to the 6th-gen 2015 iPod Touch. The details of the particular iPod are not yet known however, we expect it to include more powerful specs inside. It could even get a design upgrade, which may possibly include a notch just like the new iPhones. According to the report, the rumours of the upcoming 7th-gen iPod came from the floors of the recently concluded CES 2019. Whatever might be the case, we may hear more about the particular device in the coming months.

It is worth adding that Apple last year discontinued iPod Nano and iPod Shuffle in July. The Cupertino-based tech firm last updated its iPod Nano and Shuffle with new colours back in 2015.

However, on the brighter side, the firm introduced a new variant of the iPod Touch. The Touch now comes in 64GB and 128GB inbuilt storage that cost $199 and $299 respectively. Rest of the specifications stay the same. Some key features include a 4-inch display with 1136x640 pixels resolution, Apple A8 SoC and M8 coprocessor, 8MP rear camera with f/2.4 aperture and 1.2MP front camera with f/2.2 aperture. The device runs on the latest OS version, iOS 12.

Besides the Beats headphone collection, Apple has its HomePod, AirPods, iPod touch as a part of the audio hardware collection. It also has services and platforms like Apple Music, iTunes and gift cards.
