Apple is expected to launch its video streaming service on Monday.
Apple’s “It’s show time” event will take place on March 25 at its California headquarters. The upcoming event may not see any hardware launch, but it will unveil Apple’s venture into services. Apple’s video streaming service has been making news for quite some time now.
The iPhone maker even reportedly spent up to $1 billion for original content. Apple’s streaming service will feature content catering to different categories like shows for children. Here, Apple will show Central Park, and two Sesame Street shows, The Verge reported. The Cupertino tech giant will offer different shows for comedy, drama, sci-fi, thrillers, and documentaries as well.
Apple has already confirmed some original programming content including a drama series featuring Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Anniston, a thriller drama series by M. Night Shyamalan, the TV adaption of “Are you sleeping”, and a series focusing on immigrants called “Little America”. In addition to shows, there will be movies as well with two confirmed already – “Hala” and “On The Rocks”.
The streaming service will also host content from platforms like HBO, Showtime and Starz. Apple has also roped in Hollywood celebrities for its video streaming debut. It has popular actors and actresses like Hailee Steinfeld, Brie Larson, Jennifer Garner and Steve Carell.
Apple’s entry into the streaming service comes at a time when the competition is heavy. Apple will be facing competition from players like Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime Video. Prior to its launch, rival Netflix already confirmed it will not be a part of Apple’s streaming service. It remains to be seen how the iPhone maker’s streaming service takes off.
