An audacious daylight robbery on a mobile money agent in Accra on Thursday left three people wounded as the two armed robbers made away with an unspecified amount of cash.

The three people who are now undergoing treatment at the Korle Bu Hospital includes an 11-year-old boy who also sustained gunshot wounds after the robbery at Sahara, a suburb of Accra.

The heavily robbers stormed the shop of the mobile money vendor and shot at him while they snatched all the money stashed away in the vault.

Three by-standers were caught in the shoot-out as the mobile money vendor desperately run for his life with shots ringing out like a movie in broad daylight.

The injured persons were taken to the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital hospital for urgent medical attention and the incident has left the mother of the 11-year-old traumatized.

“We were at home on our porch when we heard that our neighbor with the mobile money shop was in trouble. There were children at around and we told them to stay put,” the mother of the 11-year-old boy said.

“My sister knew the shop where the incident was taking place so she said she was going to check it out. She got to the place and some warning shots were fired. My sister was wounded in the hand and in the leg. Another guy was also wounded.”

“We rushed them to the hospital; three of them. My child was also shot, my child of 11 years,” she added.

She noted that she caught a glimpse of the robbers, and that all but one had their faces covered, with one of them wearing a motorbike helmet.
