Ghanaian football legend Asamoah Gyan has urged patience and long-term planning for the Black Stars as they gear up for crucial 2026 World Cup qualifiers this month.

With matches against Mali and the Central African Republic scheduled for June 6th and 10th respectively, the Black Stars are in need of points to strengthen their position in Group I.

Despite a mixed start to their campaign with one win and one loss, Gyan remains optimistic about the team's future, even envisioning a potential Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) victory.

"We need a five-year plan," emphasized Gyan in an interview with Peace FM.

"Winning Afcon now is a bonus, but with patience, we can build a team to achieve great things."

Gyan highlighted the talent and potential of the young players within the squad, emphasizing the importance of nurturing their development over time.

"They have a future. Let's give them patience and build the team. Everything will be fine," he concluded.

With Ghana currently on three points, securing victories in the upcoming matches is crucial to their aspirations of qualifying for the World Cup in North America.

The Black Stars have a strong history of World Cup participation, having qualified for four out of the last five tournaments.

As they aim to secure a place in the next edition to be held in the USA, Mexico, and Canada, Gyan's call for patience and strategic planning underscores the importance of a cohesive and sustainable approach to team building and development.
