Former Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan has shared heartfelt sentiments about the steadfast support he received from his brother Baffour Gyan, highlighting his sibling's unwavering belief in his footballing potential.

Baffour, a respected figure in the Gyan family's football legacy, enjoyed a successful career as a professional footballer and proudly represented the Black Stars.

Inspired by his brother's footsteps, Asamoah pursued his own footballing dreams, eventually earning a spot alongside Baffour in the national team.

Together, they participated in the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), where Ghana clinched third place on home soil.

Recalling their shared journey, Asamoah recounted how Baffour consistently voiced his confidence in Asamoah's abilities during interviews, despite facing skepticism from others.

"When my brother Baffour Gyan was a striker in the national team, the first interview he gave was with Sannie Daara at Choice FM.

They asked him the same question, and he said, 'his brother is coming up,'" Gyan revealed during an interview on GTV Sports Plus.

"At that time, I was still in school, and people were criticizing him. They asked him the same question again, and he reiterated that my younger brother is coming. Despite the criticism, here I am now," he added.

Both Asamoah and Baffour have since retired from professional football, leaving indelible marks on Ghanaian football.

Asamoah, notably, holds the record as the country's leading goal scorer with 51 goals and remains Africa's top scorer in World Cup history, a testament to the enduring impact of his footballing journey.
