Former Ghanaian captain Asamoah Gyan has expressed his openness to accepting an offer to serve as the running mate to Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia if such an opportunity arises.

In an interview on Onua TV, Gyan acknowledged that while being offered such an "honour" would be difficult to turn down, he clarified that the speculation surrounding this possibility was merely rumour.

Gyan emphasized his commitment to leveraging his experience and knowledge for the advancement of sports in the country.

However, he clarified that no official offer had been extended to him to partner with Dr. Bawumia.

While addressing the speculation, Gyan humorously responded, "Running mate for Bawumia? Hahaha, I haven’t heard any of that, you’re the one saying it haha.

I know nothing of the sort. Is that where you guys are taking me now?"

Currently serving as the chairman of the Sports Sub-Committee of Dr. Bawumia’s manifesto committee, Gyan is expected to play a pivotal role in formulating strategic sports policies for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) ahead of the December 7 elections.
